Term 3 2015-2016
We have had a bust start to Term 3 in 2016. The children "Kickstarted" the year with two Kickstart sessions. It was great to welcome some new customers to our class and the children delivered new warm-ups and devised a great circuit.
Trip to West College
Our class enjoyed a great trip to the Science department at West College in Paisley. We got to participate in a range of science experiments led by a range of college students. We put on our lab coats and safety goggles before we got started. We got to look at our finger prints through a magnifying glass; carry out an experiment about saturation with sugar and potatoes; carry out an experiment using chromatography paper to look at how mixtures can separate and created an explosion with water and an effervescent tablet. The morning was very enjoyable.
World of Work Week
Learning about the World of Work was a very interesting week for our class. We welcomed over 17 visitors into our class across the week, sharing a range of information on their careers. It was so interesting to hear about how people got their jobs; what they enjoy most about their job; what equipment they use and what challenges they face in their roles. On the Friday afternoon we had an exciting event - Work Cluedo. The pupils were organised into teams and had the opportunity to interview over 14 guest including a Marine Engineer, Paramedic, Biomedical Scientist, Web Designer and an Occupational Therapist and had to guess their occupations. It was a really fun afternoon and we received great feedback from our guests and pupils. Many thanks to our families and friends that supported our event and helped in making it a very worthwhile and enjoyable experience for our young people.
Slavery
We began our new topic during the month of January which is the Transatlantic Slave Trade. We created a learning plan, focusing on what prior learning we had, what we like to learn, how we would like to learn and how we will share our learning. We are enjoying our topic and look forward to sharing all our hard work with our families in March.
